Utilizing a classical chiaroscuro approach on fine-grain linen canvas, layers of oil paint were thinly glazed to achieve the deep, ambient darkness, allowing the lantern's glow to emerge with vibrancy. Soft, blended brushstrokes define the subject's features and the sari's folds, contrasting with the focused light source. The warmth was built using sienna and ochre undertones, while cooler blues deepen the surrounding shadows, enhancing the focal point.
